MAINDATA, spol. s.r.o., a privately held Slovak company, was founded in 1996 as spin-off of FINSAT. MAINDATA designs, develops and markets IP Datacasting solutions via DVB (Digital Video Broadcast).
FINSAT was a company offering first real-time satellite based financial informations system in Central Europe, gathering real-time data from Stock Exchanges, OTC markets, News agencies as well as from Foreign Exchange Markets (based on agreement with Bridge Information Systems - St. Louis USA) during years 1993 - 1996. FINSAT has been providing real time data via a shared up-link with Hungarian Press Agency to QPSK satellite receivers. FINSAT team has developed entire data gathering, processing (ticker plant) and distribution system including MS Windows based clients. It was delivering real-time data to capital funds managers. FINSAT was a Slovak-American Joint-venture. Its services have been highly valuated by SEC (Security Exchange Commission) commissioner from USA.
MAINDATA in its initial stage during 1996 since 1998 provided DataCasting services via analogue satellite TV signal via VBI (vertical blanking interval) technology.
With an arrival of DVB technology when Satellite TV Companies have massivelly migrated to DVB MAINDATA has developed own DVB based DataBroadcast system and HYBRID-NET system allowing provisioning of Broadband Satellite Internet via 1-way satellite system using dial-up channel in return direction in 1998.
